Replace 17 aluminum windows with Simonton vinyl windows

Experience and Good Comments

I decided to replace all aluminum windows mainly because I could not find a good contractor to replace a broken window (after all I needed to do the project sooner or later). I got 3 quotes (Washington Energy Services, Renewal by Anderson and Signature Window). I also contacted Home Depot and Lowes but I didn't really get quotes from them due to their problem (HD had an unfriendly guy and Lowes could not find a contractor to do the work in time). The first two contractors sent out salesmen. The third one sent out the owner Randy. I was most impressed by Randy's presentation. He was very knowledgeable and gave honest suggestions. He explained how they installed windows clearly. I asked 2 quote (fiber glass and vinyl) and decided to go with Vinyl since my house is not high-end one and the climate is mild here. I got a MS discount. The quote was better than the other two contractors. After I signed the contract the installation team lead Vitaliy came and did the critical measurement. Vitaliy was a very nice guy to work with. The installation day took 2 days. I was at home watching the project. I did some prep work before the installation date (like taking off blinds etc.). They (Vitaliy and another guy) did very professional work. They cleaned the work site as they went with the project. At the end I was very happy with the work and the interaction with them. Very friendly and knowledgeable people.

They used the nail fin installation method (basically cut the old trim, remove the old window, put new window and new nails, apply weather strips besides he window, weather cover on the top, put new trims, do caulking etc.) On two rare cases I agreed to use the "insert window" method. That way the old trim didn't need to be touched. It was not ideal method but it was OK for those cases.

Later I found that one window screen had a small hole. I sent email to Randy. He quickly contacted Simoton to send me new screens. Btw the windows have double life time warranty (including accidental window breakage).
