Total remodel

Experience and Good Comments

We hired the company in July for a total remodel of a rental home. 3 months and $32,000 later, almost nothing was done, and most of what was done was faulty, and had to be redone.

As it turns out, this contractor's license is SUSPENDED, so they are conducting business fraudulently and illegally. We have reported them to the state, and are in the process of suing them.

They are cheap and it shows. If I could go back I would hire someone else.

Not-So-Good Comments

Multiple billing issues, their employees cut corners, caused damages that they didn't fix, promised things they did not do, and left the job before completion. They don't respond to my messages anymore.

Bryan Conner from this CPI construction company is a con artist and a criminal. He cheated, barely did any contracted work, then fled away with the huge down payment money from his client. He will be facing lawsuit!!

Not-So-Good Comments

Watch out this guy and his company.

Add a new window to our dining area

Experience and Good Comments

We decided to add a 6'x8' picture window to our dining area, and asked 5 different companies to bid. CPI construction ended up giving us the best bid. After reading online reviews on CPI, I decided to hire CPI for the job.

To install a window so big, several studs need to be removed, so a header and two side pillars have to be added to support the weight of the roof and wall. This means making a hole in the wall larger than the window in order to put the header and pillars, then patching it back after the window is secured. However, the wall has wall paper on it, and I don't know where to buy the same wall paper. So there is no way to patch it back perfectly. One solution is to install window casing to cover the area around the window without wallpaper. Depending on how much wallpaper is damaged, the casing might not be wide enough to cover the area. So we might have to replace the wallpaper for the entire wall. Most contractors mentioned that, so did CPI. I agreed to replace the wallpaper if necessary.

When cutting the wall, to my surprise, Bryan, who CPI subcontracted, figured out a way to only cut exactly the size of the window and nothing more. Instead, they cut a bigger hole in the exterior siding and add the header and pillars from outside. This way the damage to the dry wall and wallpaper is minimal. In fact it is so small that Bryan said I didn't even have to install interior casing if I chose to. I decide to install the interior casing anyway. For the exterior, I thought they had to install casing to cover the gap between the window and the siding. I actually asked my painter to come back and paint the casing after the window was installed. To my surprise again, they somehow closed the gap and sealed the window. I guess they reused the removed siding planks to replaced the planks to the left of the window. Since none of our windows have exterior casing, this new window matches the style of other windows very well.
