To repair the roof leak caused by vent pipe (2 inch-wide) and furnace vent pipe

Experience and Good Comments

After sending email to dhsheatingandair@yahoo.com, I got callback next day, 01/26, and made an estimation appointment on 01/27. Because I had got the inspection from another company (which I will add a separate review), I told Rick (from DHS Heating) what the problem is. One of the 2-inch wide vent pipe has leaking issue around the pipe panel, leaking level is 4 (level from 1 to 10, 10 is the worst), and the furnace vent has the leaking around 2.

Rick did a quick check, and decided to fix on the spot. He used root cement to seal the vent pipe panel, and silicon glue to seal the furnace vent around the umbrella point. Rick actually did seal all 4 vent pipe panels on the root, not just the leaking one. He also helped to take pictures before and after the fixing job, so I can share in this review.

I expected the cost to be somewhere under $300. Rick gave the quota as half of it, so I accepted. Before contacting DHS, I did research on YouTube about the solution. Technically, I can do it by myself, but since I went up to the roof last time with another inspector, I think better to let profession handle. It simply doesn't worth the risk of falling.

About 1 week after the repairing with 2 raining days, I checked out the attic. All the previous leaking point are fine, and didn't show any symptom of new leaking.

P.S. In case you have similar roof leaking issue as mine, hope not, before you can make the appointment to repair, you might apply the workaround as I did - to use the car towel (very absorbing ones) from Costco to wrap around the vent pipe. With 5 workaround sets and the big safety net, it can handle the leaking level up to 5 or 6. :)
