Install Cavaliere AP238 range hood (神器二代)
Experience and Good Comments
I chose Ma's General Construction because I saw their LIC# and insurance info on HHY. It makes me believe they are professional. My installation requires opening a vent on the house's side wall so I want to make sure the work is done right.
I bought the Cavaliere AP238 under cabinet range hood from OverStock.
Ma gave me a quote of $300, then increased to $320 due to long travel (home is in Sammamish). The price includes everything (installation, flue and vent opening on side wall). On that day Ma didn't come himself. Instead two men who work for him came in the morning (they are punctual). They found the under cabinet space (vertical) is not enough for new range hood as it is thicker than the existing one, so they removed the cabinets and reinstalled them at a higher position (which cost another $30 so the eventual pre-tax cost is $350) so there is enough under-hood space for cooking. My range hood has 8" vent but the flue they prepared is all 6", so they asked me to go to HomeDepot and buy an 8 in. 90 Degree Round Adjustable Elbow and an 8 in. to 6 in. Round Reducer while they were doing other preparation work. The installation took about two hours and they did a nice job. It was lunch time when they finished so I let them heat their meal and eat lunch in my house.
They said range hood installation is only their sideline. Their major area is remodeling. I might give another try when I want to do remodeling.
cost ($350+$15) exceeded expectation ($320) a little.
